Rabeea Hadi is a seasoned sociologist with over 17 years of experience in human services, policy advocacy, and research. She is currently an Advisor and Women Learning Partnership Lead at Aurat Publication and Information Service Foundation (AF), Pakistan. Previously, she served as Director of Advocacy and Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW) at AF, where she oversaw project progress, monitored policy and legislative developments, and played a key role in advocacy initiatives. She has also been a member of AF’s recruitment committee, contributing to the hiring of key personnel.
Most recently, Rabeea served as the Director General of the Child Protection Institute (CPI) in Islamabad, leading the institute for three years until November 2024. She was instrumental in establishing the institute under the Child Protection Act 2014, ensuring that child protection services
were institutionalized with a strong framework. Under her leadership, special emphasis was placed on addressing the needs of girls at every stage of CPI’s development. She also led the recruitment of CPI’s core team, setting the foundation for a sustainable and effective institution.
Rabeea’s expertise spans across research, strategy development, and capacity building. She has led 30 research-based projects and has supported 50 organizations in designing strategies and frameworks based on research findings. Her work involves building partnerships, engaging with policymakers, and conducting gender analysis, proposal writing, capacity-building training, manual development, and advocacy strategy formulation.
She has designed and managed programs focused on the social, political, and economic empowerment of women, children, and marginalized groups. Her work includes gender integration, government capacity-building, GBV prevention and response, disaster risk reduction, and NGO/INGO capacity strengthening. She has played a critical role in policy formulation, advocacy, curriculum design, and program development to drive social transformation and human rights protection.
Rabeea has also worked as a psychosocial counselor with the International Rescue Committee, providing trauma counseling to refugee women. She is a visiting faculty member at the Department of Gender Studies, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) in Rawalpindi, where she teaches Gender Development and Globalization and Discourse Analysis, and supervises postgraduate research.
In addition to her professional roles, Rabeea serves as a Board Member of Sahil, a leading NGO working for child protection. Her extensive experience in recruitment, policy advocacy, and program development has made her a key contributor to national and international discussions on women’s rights, child protection, and social inclusion.
Myra Azam is a senior journalist, researcher and media and leadership trainer. She currently works with The News as staff reporter and files stories with the pen name Myra Imran. Myra reports on human rights issues especially those related to women, transgender, children and other vulnerable sections of the society and has won several awards for her work. As a trainer, she has designed and conducted trainings across the country for organizations and platforms such as Indivisualland, Women Learning Partnership, Internews, Huqooq-e-Pakistan Project, Search for Common Grounds, Group Development Pakistan, Awaz e Niswan, Baidari etc.
Myra was the Vice President of National Press Club for the years 2022 and 2023 and was Vice President for Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) for 2020 and 2021. She was twice elected as Vice President of National Press Club, Islamabad in 2017 and 2018. She
is Deputy Editor and Media Research at JournalismPakistan.com, a website that highlights
media related news. Her research “Surviving the Story” on families of FATA journalists killed or displaced due to their journalistic work has been widely recognised at national level. She is among the lead team who conceptualised and conducted first ever gender audit of Pakistani media organisations “Unequal Newsrooms.” The study was conducted by Women Journalists Association and Freedom Network in 2024.
Myra is currently Member Board of Governors for Aurat Foundation and Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO), national, non-profit, non-governmental organizations. She is at the Advisory Board of IRADA, a media development non-profit organisation and also a member of the Steering Committee of Journalists Protection Fund run by Pakistan Freedom Network. As communication expert, she has worked with Ministry of Human Rights, National Commission on the Status of Women, UN Women, Aurat Foundation and
Child Protection Institute. In different capacities, she has been part of the recruitment process of these organisations defining the process, formulating the tests and designing and conducting the interviews for different posts.
She has anchored a prime time show for Khyber TV and a social and political satire weekly show “Hasher Nasher” for DBTV, a digital television network. She has participated as an expert in several radio shows. She is Rotary Peace Fellow and was part of Batch 27 for three- month Rotary Fellowship on Peace and Conflict Resolution held in Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. She is also an IVLP alumni and was part of a delegation for 2010. She was among the main organizers of three national conferences of women in media organized under National Press Club, Islamabad (2011) and Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (2014) and UNIC (2017). As a result of Convention held in 2014, four seats for women journalists were reserved in the Governing Body of National Press Club.
